Financial Controller - Leading Creative Agency
Location: Queens Park, North West London (Office-based, 4 to 5 days per week)
About the Role:
We are working exclusively with a high-growth, ambitious creative agency to recruit a Finance Controller. This newly created role is pivotal to the agency's next phase of growth, with a clear path to a Director position within 1-2 years. The successful candidate will provide financial oversight, drive operational excellence, and partner with the Managing Director to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit and improve financial processes to support growth, ensuring day-to-day operations (Accounting, expenses, invoicing, supplier payments) run smoothly.
- Prepare and maintain yearly budgets, identifying margin improvement opportunities and providing monthly updates.
- Manage the finance team (of 2), ensuring Xero is up to date and fully reconciled.
- Act as the primary contact for external accountants, handling payroll, VAT returns, year-end accounts, and audits.
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts for internal and group reporting, ensuring compliance with HMRC and tax requirements for overseas projects.
- Collaborate with production teams to reconcile project budgets and provide client budget updates as needed.
- Support the Managing Director with business-wide decisions, offering financial analysis to drive profitability and operational improvements.
- Liaise with the Group's financial team and CFO, attending business reviews and overseeing the transition to a new finance system.
- Troubleshoot urgent finance and business issues, while supporting HR functions such as contract issuance and holiday/sickness requests.
- Build and lead a robust finance function, auditing team efficiency and overseeing recruitment to maximise departmental performance.
About You:
- You are a qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with significant experience in a similar role, ideally within a creative, media, or professional marketing services environment.
- You have a strong commercial mindset, with the ability to think strategically and support business growth.
- You are highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- You have experience managing and developing a small finance team.
- You are a confident communicator, able to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- You are proactive, solutions-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
