About the Role


Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Associate to join their public accounting firm in New York City. In this role, you will serve high-net-worth individual clients, providing comprehensive tax planning and compliance services while working alongside experienced tax professionals.



Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex federal and state individual tax returns for high-net-worth clients
  • Analyze clients' financial information and identify tax planning opportunities
  • Research tax issues and prepare technical memoranda
  • Assist with tax projections and quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Coordinate with wealth advisors and investment managers on tax implications
  • Respond to IRS and state tax authority notices and inquiries
  • Support senior staff with tax examinations and audits
  • Stay current on tax law changes affecting high-net-worth individuals


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's in Taxation preferred)
  • 2-4 years of public accounting tax experience
  • Pursuing a CPA certification
  • Experience with high-net-worth individual tax returns and planning
  • Knowledge of pass-through entity taxation and investment income reporting
  • Proficiency with professional tax software (UltraTax, ProSystem fx, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines
