Tax Manager

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our clients growing tax practice in Atlanta. The ideal candidate will be a CPA with comprehensive tax expertise, strong leadership abilities, and excellent client relationship skills, capable of managing complex engagements while developing staff and contributing to the firm's growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee complex tax engagements for corporations, partnerships, high-net-worth individuals, and trusts
- Manage, mentor, and develop tax staff and seniors, providing regular feedback and guidance
- Review tax returns, research, and planning projects prepared by staff
- Provide sophisticated tax planning strategies and consulting services to clients
- Identify and implement tax saving opportunities across multiple entities
- Manage client relationships and serve as primary contact for complex tax matters
- Monitor and respond to federal, state, and local tax legislation changes
- Oversee tax provision calculations and reviews
- Participate in business development activities and proposal preparation
- Manage engagement budgets, billing, and collections
- Conduct technical training sessions for staff
- Assist with tax department workflows and quality control procedures
- Handle IRS examinations and notices at federal and state levels
Required Qualifications
- Active CPA license
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 7+ years of public accounting experience with at least 2 years at the manager level
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations
- Strong technical research and writing skills
- Experience managing multiple complex tax engagements
- Excellent project management and time management abilities
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Proven leadership and staff development abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting
- Experience with multinational tax issues and international tax planning
- Knowledge of Georgia state and local tax requirements
- Expertise in specific industries (real estate, construction, manufacturing)
- Experience with tax provision calculations (ASC 740)
- Advanced proficiency in tax software (ProSystem fx Tax, GoSystem, UltraTax)
- Experience with tax research platforms (RIA, CCH)
- Member of AICPA and Georgia Society of CPAs
