Senior Tax Associate
Location: Atlanta, GA
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Senior Tax Associate to join our clients growing tax practice in Atlanta. The ideal candidate will have strong technical tax knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements while mentoring junior staff members.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts
- Review work performed by staff tax associates, providing guidance and feedback
- Research complex tax issues and prepare technical memorandums
- Assist in tax planning and projections for clients
- Identify tax saving opportunities and communicate recommendations to clients
- Respond to IRS and state tax notices and correspondence
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients regarding tax matters
- Participate in client meetings and presentations
- Monitor project budgets and deadlines
- Train and mentor junior staff members
- Assist with tax provision calculations and reviews
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the tax department
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of public accounting tax experience
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and research tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with tax compliance for multiple entity types
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- CPA license or actively pursuing CPA licensure
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting
- Active CPA license
- Experience with ProSystem fx Tax, GoSystem, or UltraTax
- Knowledge of Georgia state and local tax requirements
- Experience with tax provision calculations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Experience with paperless tax workflow systems
- Knowledge of international tax concepts
