About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join our clients growing CPA firm in Ronkonkoma, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in not-for-profit and construction industry audits, with demonstrated leadership abilities and excellent client relationship skills.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise multiple audit engagements simultaneously, with a focus on not-for-profit organizations and construction companies
  • Manage, mentor, and develop audit staff and seniors, providing regular feedback and guidance
  • Review audit work papers, financial statements, and reports to ensure compliance with professional standards and firm policies
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a key point of contact for complex technical matters
  • Identify and communicate significant audit and accounting issues to partners and clients
  • Prepare and review audit planning documents, including risk assessments and audit programs
  • Monitor engagement budgets and deadlines to ensure profitable and timely completion of projects
  • Participate in business development activities and proposal preparation
  • Contribute to the firm's quality control processes and internal training programs


Required Qualifications

  • Active CPA license in New York State
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 7+ years of public accounting experience, with at least 3 years at the manager level
  • Demonstrated expertise in not-for-profit and construction industry audits
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and industry-specific accounting principles
  • Experience with audit software and paperless audit environments
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience with single audits (Uniform Guidance)
  • Knowledge of construction contract accounting and percentage of completion methods
  • Familiarity with common construction industry software
  • Member of AICPA and NYSSCPA
  • Experience with ProSystem fx Engagement or similar audit software
