Senior Tax Accountant

Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our clients tax preparation and planning team. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced technical expertise to develop sophisticated tax strategies, mentor junior staff, and provide high-level tax consultation to complex client scenarios.



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the preparation of complex individual, corporate, partnership, and non-profit tax returns
  • Develop and implement advanced tax planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals and complex business structures
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior tax staff
  • Conduct in-depth tax research on complex tax issues and emerging tax legislation
  • Review and approve tax returns prepared by staff accountants
  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously with strict attention to deadlines
  • Represent clients during tax audits and IRS communications
  • Develop and maintain client relationships at a senior advisory level
  • Present tax planning recommendations to clients, highlighting strategic tax optimization opportunities
  • Stay current with evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Participate in business development and client acquisition efforts
  • Supervise and train junior accounting staff
  • Contribute to the firm's quality control and review processes


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Preferred CPA license with minimum 3-5 years of progressive tax experience
  • Extensive experience in complex tax preparation and planning
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Proven track record of managing high-complexity tax portfolios
  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative tax strategy solutions


Technical Competencies

  • Advanced proficiency in professional tax preparation software (ProSeries, Lacerte, CCH)
  • Expert-level Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Deep understanding of corporate, individual, and pass-through entity taxation
  • Experience with multi-state and international tax considerations
  • Advanced knowledge of tax planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals
  • Familiarity with emerging tax technologies and digital accounting platforms
